Abstract

Human-scale development is an intriguing topic, especially in times of Pandemic, as a possibility to (re)think of ways of life that are alternative to consumer society. The objective is to revisit the theory of Human-scale development to deal with art, physical activity, and food as synergistic satisfiers of human needs. It is an theoretical essay, using empirical illustration, as the founder of Human-scale development, Manfred Max-Neef, and your two partner, Antônio Elizalde and Martin Hopenhayn, did well. Art can represent latent emotions and feelings of a society that resists the optics of consumption. Physical activity performed in nature and food, as elements of integrative health, prevent an unbalanced dose of stress, which avoids several pathologies of a fast way of life. Human-scale development can therefore establish itself as a strategy to promote Good Living in terms of social well-being and ecology.
