Abstract

In order to allow the main actors who work in the construction industry develop their activities, focused in sustainability of environmental built, it is proposed to higher education institutions the insertion of subjects into the curriculum of courses in Civil Engineering and Architecture related to sustainability. It was found that the Architecture course has a curricular profile with emphasis on technological, environmental and social innovation subjects. In the course of Civil Engineering it was found a greater presence in subjects related to technological innovation, economy and social. It was found also that, despite the fact that private ‘IES’ provides more vacancies than the public one, the public IES has better quality indicators, both regarding the institutions themselves, about their courses in Civil Engineering and Architecture. The lack of sustainability disciplines in those courses may result in inadequate buildings to the built environment.
