EDUCATIONAL PLAY ACTIVITY AT APAE DE ANÁPOLIS: EXPERIENCE REPORT

Abstract

This document presents an experience report of a descriptive and qualitative study regarding a university extension developed by Dentistry students from Faculdade Anhanguera de Anápolis (FAA), at the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (APAE) of Anápolis, Goiás. The project aimed to promote oral health education for People with Disabilities (PWD), with a chronological age from 6 years old, emphasizing the importance of adequate oral hygiene through a children's theater, demonstration on a mannequin and support materials visual and playful, as these patients often face challenges in self-care and have a high incidence of painful problems. The report highlights a positive response from APAE participants and collaborators, highlighting the effectiveness of playful methods in teaching oral health. Projects like these are valuable for academic training and for improving oral health practices, promoting the expansion of these actions to benefit more and more PWDs.
